Abstraction to live by?

There are paintings everywhere. Some are on canvas, some are on asphalt. The paintings here also tell us something about how to conduct our lives: stay in this lane, keep to the right, don’t block the entryway, etc. When they’re on asphalt, the messages are clear. But what about when they’re on canvas? Do we want guidance from abstract paintings on canvas? In the beginning, artists thought that abstraction would open a new world of spiritual meaning. Mondrian was out to change the world. Do we still think like that? Or is abstraction now decoration? In fact, is there any art today from which we routinely take guidance? What do you think?
