Wilderness and civilization

The flyleaf of a book belonging to one of Margaret’s ancestors, with the inscription in French. And a boulder and Norway pine on the shores of Highland Lake. Both from a recent trip to Maine. So many of my experiences there, now and as a child, have to do with the juxtaposition of wilderness and civilization.
