These pictures were taken at “Little Rest,” a summer cottage on Chebeague Island off the coast of Maine. Bookshelves in the house are filled with old, sometimes crumbling books that earlier summer visitors left behind. Just a five-minute walk away is the beach, where the retreating tide leaves heaps of broken shells and sticks. These still lifes were a very happy part of the week we spent there last summer. Photographed with a Panasonic TS1.

I know this place so well – 20+ years going there to Little Rest – what a wonderful home! I have so many many pictures, so many memories of this wonderful place. My children grew up there! Many years we were lucky to go twice – closing the place up for the winter in October! Nina Woods owned this home – She was married to Martha Erikson Demers Dad, and when she passed away, her kids sold it to the man next door. We went back one more time, but it was not the same….. And by the way, hello Drew Sanborn – how funny that I saw this picture and found out it was you! A blast from way back New England Center days! Jane Rogers

Jane! Revisiting this old blog after a long (obviously!) absence. Nice to hear from you. We’re headed back to Chebeague this summer. Different house, though.–Drew
